Columbine

Northwest Crimson Columbine (Aquilegia formosa), a woodland plant, grows from Alaska to Baja California. This was photographed at the Starrigavan Recreation Area in Sitka, Alaska. Starrigavan Recreation Area is a small park at the end of the "main" road in Sitka. The park is arranged along a raised wooden walkway (3/4-mile-long) so that the delicate marshlands are not disturbed by foot traffic. Great care was taken in the construction of this recreation area.
