Gadwall

Copyright Barbara Samuelson 2003

Gadwall (Anas strepera) belongs to the Dabbling Ducks of freshwater shallows and salt marshes. These ducks feed by tipping tail-up to reach aquatic plants, seeds and snails. They will spring directly into flight without requiring a running take-off. This is an adult male Gadwall.
