Grizzly Island

Copyright Barbara Samuelson 1998

One of the many views at Grizzly Island, California. Grizzly Island is in the Suisun Marsh which is the largest contiguous brackish marsh in the continental United States. California's largest population of river otters swim in the sloughs; one can see more than 230 bird species as well as tule elk, a species native only to California. Seventy-five miles of levee trails are open from February through July.
