Male Northern Harrier

Northern Harrier (Circus cyaneus); Characterized by a white rump and owl-like facial disk. This is a male in courting display photographed near Abbott's Lagoon, California. During the courting display the male will soar into the air and move into a controlled stall, fall from it and then roll over only to soar up once more. This dramatic display can continue for two hours.
