Scarlet Pimpernel
Copyright Barbara Samuelson 1997
The incomparable Scarlet Pimpernel (Anagallis arvensis) is
a tiny flower that resembles a rose, and is a member of the Primrose family.
Scarlet pimpernel flowers are open only when the sun shines; their habit
of closing in dull weather has given the plant the name "poor man's weather-glass."
This photo was shot with an extreme close-up lens.
