Spotted Owl

Spotted owl (Strix occidentalis) Large and dark-eyed, strictly
nocturnal and decreasing in number due to habitat destruction. This bird
was photographed as it quietly rested in one of the old WWII gun emplacements
below Hawk Hill in the Headlands of Marin.
